Looking for family of Albert S McCarthy born 1914 Bethnal Green, I think Albert's parents were Thomas McCarhty and Johannah Hayes married in 1918, Shoreditch.

I know Albert born 1914 is my man, just working back from him and the name Hayes rings a bell with Albert's grand daughter, and a irish connection, living in Bethnal green.. thats all I have. If Albert has the mother's name as Hayes in right area surely Johannah Hayes is he's mother!!! I'm guessing again......

You could be right to say that his parents didn't get round to marrying for several years after his birth, but it's better to make sure that it is the correct person first.

Thanks for the advice, but I search for friends who have some interest in their family history as a hobby and maybe if I present them with a "could be tree" they may want to purchase the cert's needed to prove or disprove my research. It doesn't often happen but I enjoy the guess work anyway.

Although there are both Hayes and McCarthy families in Greater London in 1911 it would be so wrong to assume there is a relationship with them.

Talk to them (edit - the friends) and suggest they purchase the BC to confirm the parents names, then their MC for the names of the fathers and occupations. The MC would also give the declared ages of the couple. You'll be in a much better position for further ' speculation'

The MMN was definitely HAYES.....as per the birth registration.

BUT...............your friend NEEDS a copy of the birth cert.

Frankly, guesswork is a waste of time, unless you investigate and prove the accuracy of your guesses - and you won't encourage your friends' interest in FH if you give them info which hasn't been carefully researched

Getting the birth cert for Albert S McCarthy is the only way of confirming the parents are Thomas McCarthy and Johannah Hayes.
