It appears that perhaps you are looking at the wrong person?

As her mother was Esther Love, who presumably became Esther Ruffold, the census should read Step daughter to George not daughter in law.

just to clarify the term 'daughter-in-law' in the census for Patricia

it was quite correct - it was a term used for a stepchild at the time and is often seen in the censuses

(this is the same in French where belle-fille can mean either daughter-in-law or stepdaughter)

and the relationship shown is always to the 'head of household' who was of course always the man

so although she was the daughter of Esther, she is recorded in the census as daughter-in-law (stepdaughter) of the head of household, Esther's second husband

Patricia has 2 Elizabeth Loves, 1851, in her tree on here - one birth-place unspecified, the other in London.

So, more information required as to how she got back to Elizabeth.

The Elizabeth Love living with the Ruffold family is not the same Elizabeth as was born to William and Sarah.
