I see her father's middle name is Toward so there must be a connection.

EDIT: Of course there's a connection! This must be the James that is on the 1901.

I see that on the marriage record, Vivers has been mistranscribed as Vevrs.
is it possible that Mary was baptised Margaret after her mother?.
There´s a Margaret Annie Vevers b 1st quarter 1903 in Newcastle.

ErikaH Report 29 Sep 2012 09:56

Although, on 1911, Margaret says she has borne a child during the marriage, it may be that Mary was not their natural daughter.

ErikaH Report 29 Sep 2012 09:54

This is the child born 1900................regardless of speculation about naming patterns, she is NOT the child being sought

They are living at the same address in both 1901 and 1911.......so there's no logical reason to suppose that any child of the marriage was born anywhere else.

Hi everyone,
Sorry about the errors in my messages. I was badly in need of sleep when I wrote those posts. It was after midnight here when I wrote them, which is 1pm your time - I'm in NZ.

Mary was was born in 1901 in Newcastle. On the 1911 Census she is shown with William, Margaret and her half brother James Toward - my grandfather. ( His Mother, Bridget nee Tarpey - is someone else who is apparently still alive today - can't find her Death either...)

I'd already discounted Mary Edward Cook Vivers as the 2 middle names don't tie in with anyone with those names, (even if Vevers is spelled differently), as they normally have ties to other family members?

I've also looked for a Death for Mary and a Marriage, but drew a blank there too.
Might have to revisit the Death and Marriage lists again in case anything new has been put on.

Thanks for your interest, I truly appreciate it.

Joy :-)

Malcolm.
You´re right. I´ve just checked the censuses & Mary aged 10 appears on the 1911 with William & Margaret. Married 15 years, 1 child born, 1 child living.
On the 1901 they have James Vevers aged 20 living with them, presumably William´s son from a previous marriage.

wisechild

wisechild Report 28 Sep 2012 14:48

If William & Margaret weren´t married until 1896 & Mary was born in 1891, surely she was the child of William´s previous wife.
Is this one any help?
Mary Eleanor Vevers b 4th quarter 1892 Newcastle upon Tyne.

Malcolm

Malcolm Report 28 Sep 2012 14:37

Surely you mean the 1911 census. If not, why are you searching 1896 to 1906 if she was born in 1891. Also, if she appears in a census her place of birth should be shown.

EDIT: re-reading your previous posts, it is still not 100% clear when she was born...it seems to be 1891 thus her birth place should appear in the 1901 census record even if it's only England or Scotland (or elsewhere)

Hi Reggie, here's what I have. I should warn you that I have been helped before on this site, but nobody could solve the puzzle for me...

I'm looking for Mary, Daughter of William Vevers and Margaret Vevers, nee Little.

On the 1901 Census Mary is 10yrs old born in Newcastle upon Tyne. I have searched all the English births from 1896 to 1906, to be on the safe side, but I cannot find a Mary Vevers that fits anywhere - and I've tried variations of the Surname.

William was born in Cumberland and Margaret was born in Cannonbie, Scotland, that's why I was seeing if the Mary on the Scottish Site could have been mine because of the Scottish connection? Thought Margaret may have gone back home for the birth?

William and Margaret were married 1896 and living in Newcastle. This was Williams 3rd Marriage.

I've been looking for Mary for a few years now and keep going back to her, but up to now no luck..

Cheers. Joy.

Thanks for your help people.

I finally managed to get a look at the Census for both a Mary Vevers and a John Vevers. Unfortunately the Mary I was looking for wasn't the one on the Census. Her grandfather John was correct though, but Mary wasn't with him at that time anyway, so another blank!

So the Brick Wall is still standing...

Thanks again.

You can't find on the 1891 census a person born in 1895

What/who are you actually looking for?

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 27 Sep 2012 23:35

Contact the site and advise them of the problem with viewing the image

As you know, it is not a subscription site, so anyone looking would have to use - and lose - credits. And would probably get the same 'grey' page as you............

Sorry, just realised that it should be the 1891 Census. Mary was born in 1895. Slip of the finger.

Thanks for your reply.

I've clicked on Viewed Images and found that O.K. but when I click on View beside Mary's name I get the Grey page again?

I was sort of expecting to be shown a page with Mary and her family on it, like on the English Census pages?

Joy.
