Would be very grateful for any advice on how to go about getting a marriage certificate for a ceremony which took place in India probably about 1948/49.

Many thanks

Was either of the participants a British subject?

FMP has

British India Office Marriages 1713-1969

British Overseas Marriages 1818-2005

so if one or both of the participants was a British subject, and you gave us the names, I'm sure someone on here with a subscription would be happy to take a look for you.

If for any reason you don't want to post the name(s) here (such as privacy issues), and the person was a British subject, feel free to pm me the details and I'll take a look, but posting on here will probably get you a faster response as there are helpers keeping an eye on the boards all the time. :-)
