I'm trying to find info on a family friend of ours who was like a Grandfather to me.
He is Maurice Askham born 21st June 1914.
I see his mothers name is Wilcox from the registry.
Not sure how long they had been married but can anyone see a marriage between an Askham and a Wilcox as i've looked but it may be right under my nose!

I can't see a marriage on Findmypast. Perhaps they didn't marry or perhaps his mother had been married before so any marriage to his father would be in her first married name??

Yes i believe he did have a sister so that is almost certainly her.
Re the other Maurice, i think his parents lived in Sheffield but can't be 100%.
Also i believe he had a couple of brothers from what my Dad remembers.

Maurice was like a Grandfather to me as he lodged with my Grandmother but died when i was 8yrs old.

This possibly could be another brother,

The mother although Wilcox is her maiden name,she could have been previously married and re-married as a widow in her then married surname.,so there wont be a marriage for Askham and Wilcox,,,,,

A birth certificate would at least give her christian name and that of the father so making it easier to find a marriage.

So his parents seem to have been Frederick Henry Askham and Clara Josephine Wilcox married 1912 but civil registration seems to be missing

Frederick died 1955 and Clara 1960 both Sheffield

this could be clara the age matches death age in 1960
