Welcome to the boards Jeannine.

What exactly are you trying to find out about your father since you already know when he was born and when he died? Do you have his birth certificate for his parents' names?

Jeannine

It's highly unlikely someone will just know of him

What exactly are you looking for ?

You may have to buy some certs for their info

I think this is your father in the 1939 Register. Findmypast has messed up the transcription and has added him and his family to the Gascoigne family but they are next door neighbours:-

Gascoigne Household (7 People)
3 North Street , Blackwell R.D., Derbyshire, England

FIRST NAME(S) LAST NAME(S) DOB SEX OCCUPATION MARITAL STATUS
Frederick C Clarke 20 Feb 1937 Male Under School Age Single
Cyril Gascoigne 10 Aug 1911 Male Colliery Dataller (Below) Heavy Worker Married
Ivy Gascoigne 29 Dec 1916 Female Unpaid Domestic Duties Married
Betty Jowett (Baines,Gascoigne) 13 Apr 1934 Female At School Single
Sorry, this record is officially closed. Check if you can open a closed record.
Frederick C Clarke 19 Jul 1916 Male Colliery Hewer (Below) Heavy Worker Married

There are only three people in your father's household - his father Frederick Clarence senior, your father and another person whose record is closed (probably his mother who may have still been alive when they stopped updating the register).

The Gascoigne family are actually at number 1 North Street.

I'm assuming that Betty was not your mother, Jeannine, and that you were born before your father married her?
It will be impossible to find out if he had any other children before their marriage.

There are lots of Clarke births, but it's a common name, and without knowing a mother's maiden surname, we can't point you in the direction of any particular one.

There were 6 Clarke / Phillips (with 2 L's) births in Nottinghamshire 1977-92, but you would have to buy the birth certs to find out the parents' first names - an expensive business.

I'll PM you the 6 birth details, in case you do want to order the certs..

I have sent Jeannine a pm to let her know how to find her threads and that she has some replies.

I have just realised that the message I sent to Jeannine is not in my sent messages, (not sure why). I have just tried to send it again but it won't let me send her a message - just says "it is not possible to send a message to this member - their account may have been closed".

Don't think it likely that she will be able to add to this thread.

Thats a shame - who knows, sometime in the future someone who actually knew her father might stumble across this thread. Now that Jeannine has deleted her account, there's no way they can contact her.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 26 Mar 2016 16:59

She must have deleted us as contacts, Kathleen, as well as closing her account.
(Or maybe closing an account also deletes all message conversations.)
The PM I sent on the 24th has gone from my sent list, too.

I hope she wasn't put off by some of the posts on her other thread.

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 26 Mar 2016 17:15

I didn't see the other thread so I can't comment on it but I, too, hope she wasn't put off by anything.

I found her marriage and also an electoral register entry for her but it was from 2002 so she may not be there anymore otherwise I might have written to her - although that might look like stalking!!

Just a shame she will miss out on the information on this thread. I'm sure the Nottingham death is more likely to be her father's death rather than the Leeds one she mentions. The informant might have been able to help her.
