Meat Loaf had a hit with the song "I would do anything for love, but I won't do that".

What do you think he would NOT do for love?

Hello Elizabeth

Each verse mentions two things that the man would do for love, followed by one thing that he will not do. The title phrase repetition reasserts that he "won't do that". Each mention of "that" is a reference to the particular promise that he made earlier in the same verse. The four things he says he will never do are:........

Forget the way you feel right now
Forgive myself if we don't go all the way tonight
Do it better than I do it with you
Stop dreaming of you every night of my life

Prickles ...that's the first time anyone has explained the lyrics to that song in a way that makes sense to me!

Hello

Thank you all very much for your replies.

"I would do anything for love" is a very powerful song and won international recognition in 1994.

I reckon what Mr Loaf was saying he would not let his missus
use his credit card! :-)

Not really about the about the song but how I don't always the meaning.

Once upon a long time ago, in my English class far, far away, we had to study a poem. It was something about a boats oars dipping in a lake and a light being struck and the English teacher and several others were quite breathless with the romantic spirit of it all.

Old Stars in Eyes here had thought it was poem about poaching salmon.
