In order for anyone to help you, Jason, you need to give some names, dates and locations.

Working backwards from what you do know try this (free) site:

http://www.freebmd.org.uk

warning: birth, marriage and death entries are by the place when the event happened which may be a lot different to the modern place.

Jason, is it possible that your Nan's parents were not married at the time of Beatrice's birth?

I found this.

Beatrice M James
b 1914 Q4, Pontypool District
Mother's Maiden Name: James

Iris M James
b 1915 Q4, Bedwellty District
MMN: Morgan

Looking for a marriage now if the above information seems right to you.

Jason

I think the best way for you to go is to purchase a copy of your Grandmothers marriage certificate to Clifford G Davies.

The certificate should give you details of who her father was and his occupation.

(And also her middle name)

The best place to purchase England and Wales certificates is online here.....

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

It will cost you £9.25

Jason,

The best thread for posting this request is 'Find Ancestors'.

As a heading to your post it would be a good idea to put something like this:

JAMES, Iris M, Monmouthshire.

In that way people who may have a special interest in Welsh records will be more likely to read it to see whether they can help.

In the bulk of your posting do give as much information as you can eg your Nan's full name and date of birth as well as her sister's. Put your Nan's marriage details and her sister's too, if you have them. If there is anything you are unsure about, such as place of birth, mention this too.
