Is there a way of finding out where someone lived about 40 years ago. My family moved about a lot and my brother was asking if there is a way to find out. I know there is a rule on census for every 100 years but is there a way of checking the electoral roll, thanks

Electoral registers will be in the local library but not online.

If you have Ancestry you could search the phone books up to 1984.

Unless the ER have been indexed and held by sites like Ancestry (as quoted above), the 'hard copies' held by the libraries or archives can only be searched by address.

If it were a town, you could be there for some time!
