Might do - depends if there is anything better on. Its the only part of any Olympic meeting that has any attraction.

The TV schedules have been dire since that European football tournament a couple of months ago.
Even the channels who don't schedule major sporting events are mainly airing repeats.

NO! I hope by now that it's well and truly over :-|

Also, fed up with all the whingeing from the Aussie squad.

I hate sport with a vengeance

Guinevere Report 6 Aug 2016 05:47

Nope!

The Olympic ideal died the day they gave the games to China, haven't watched any of it since.

Not interested, as aren't the majority of the population. But no doubt the Beeb will still want to disrupt normal viewing for the benefit of a tiny minority who want to watch it.

Nope ,didn't bother :-(

With all the doping that has gone on I am even more not sure of some of the winning times in some of the events
Puts me off even more that it's not true sports

Island Report 6 Aug 2016 09:26

What a bunch of miseries - should be a new Olympic sport.

Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 6 Aug 2016 09:40

I could compete in that one island ,without the doping
:-D

Allan Report 6 Aug 2016 09:51

I'm old enough to remember when the Olympics were purely for amateurs.

Any sportsperson who had received money for participating in a sport was not allowed to enter; now it's just a money grubbing extravaganza strenuously supported by all the IOC officials with their snouts in the trough :-|

Edit. If that makes me a misery, I'll wear the Gold Medal with pride :-D :-D

Out of interest, was it ever said what the overall economic benefit (or deficit) was for the London Games?

Princess Ann resigned from the IOC because of the corruption. It's likely that's still going on. Before London, IOC members were demanding high class hotels and chauffeur driven cars at London's expense. Established food outlets within a certain perimeter were forced to close.

That aside, the summer Olympics might inspire more young people to pursue a sport. The Winter sports are less achievable for British youngsters because of our climate. One school skiing holiday or even an annual family holiday isn't enough.

Rose asked if anyone would be staying up to watch the OPENING CEREMONY and got a load of negative comments about how much you lot hate sport.

We recorded the opening ceremony to watch this evening. A lot of effort goes into it and a lot of people are involved - not just the competitors. How anyone can 'hate' such a spectacular event is beyond me.
