Trying to trace Brian Crook the adopted son of Barbara Crook. Brian was born on 5th September 1966 in Crawley hospital and his mother Barbara lived in Southgate Crawley at the time of his birth. She later married Michael Snelling in 1972. Brian may have a totally different name now. Any assistance really appreciated :-S

Hi Cherie and welcome

can you give an idea of your relationship with Brian?

that saves people 'finding' information you already have (e.g. if you are related to his mother and know her information)

someone has Brian Crook born 1966 in unknown location in their tree here at genesreunited ... only one person by that name was born that year

do you know that tree owner?

searching trees here is the basic function for finding related people

in the menu that appears when you put your mouse on 'Search' at the top, click Search All Member Trees

Hi, I am family friend trying to help. Doubt if Brian Crook will still be his name as he was adopted soon after birth. He has a younger brother that he will not have any knowledge of but his brother was also adopted and his name was changed. So really looking for anyone born in Crawley hospital on 5th Sept 66 and later adopted

Whoever is the actual relation should add him/herself to the national adoption contact register

IF Brian knows he was adopted, and IF he has any interest in finding birth family, he may have done the same.

Thank you, the family have tried on here previously and will be adding themselves to the national adoption register shortly.

Cherie, if he were looking for family or someone else were looking for him, the name that they would put in their tree is his birth name

in his case, he would be looking for family who knew of him by his birth name, so of course he would put that name in his tree here

other family members looking for him would likely not know his adoptive name, so they would put his birth name in their tree ... or his adoptive family (or his spouse or children) might put him in their tree by his birth name in case someone was looking for him

so if when you said 'Doubt if Brian Crook will still be his name as he was adopted soon after birth' you were meaning to rule out anyone who has Brian Crook 1966 in their tree here at genesreunited, I would absolutely not do that

you didn't actually answer whether you know the person who has that name in their tree

The person who has a Brian in his tree looks to have been born in Staffordshire in 1943.....not sure what the connection is unless distant cousins somewhere along the line?

true jax ... Barbara was from the same area as where Brian was born ...

the person with that Brian in his tree may just be mistaken about the birth year
