Searching on behalf of a friend, for:-
Jason Lawrence Phillip Patterson, born Lambeth 1988
Dwayne Owen Vincent Patterson born Lambeth 1992
Mother's maiden name was Skinner.

Any information would be greatly appreciated as we have tried the usual routes of electoral roll, phone book, facebook etc.

Just to clarify - is there any chance they were adopted, or their mother hadn't taken another surname? If they were still children, they could have assumed the surname of their mother's partner?

As you've no doubt already seen, a Dwayne Patterson was living in Hayes, Middex in 2004. It looks as if it might have been a house share/HMO.

The same applies to the entry for a Jason Patterson in 2002 living in N London.

If someone goes off the grid, its difficult for normal mortals to track them down.
Does your friend know what Secondary school they went to, or if college/uni the name of that? Going at it obliquely, there may be links on social media for the establishment + friends of friends who may be able to put them in contact.

As both children are reg also in mother's name it would seem likely that their surname might have changed. If you have mother's full name have you been able to find a a later marriage for her?

The Dwayne Patterson in Hayes is the wrong age. In 2004 he would have been 12 and therefore would not appear on the electoral roll. Jason appears to be a GR member, but it looks like it is possibly an old account that he is not monitoring. We believe that one or both boys may have ended up in the care system (from information given to us) so tracking the mother appears to be a dead end. We know nothing more than the info I've given - we were only recently informed of their existence.

Katrina, just checking that you have tried messaging both the accounts for Jason, as one is more recent than the other?

Yeah I've tried both :) hopefully it's just a case that he's not had a chance to check his inbox, but thought I'd post on here too. Did some further digging on your advice with regard to remarriage, and Dwayne MAY be using the surname King, but he's not showing up with that surname anywhere I've checked with that name either

it's difficult to be delicate ... is it possible the parents were married but estranged yet not divorced, and that is why the children were registered in both surnames?

There is a marriage for the two surnames in Harlow in 1983 ... the husband has two different surnames, there is no indication that the wife was previously married, and there are no births to the marriage in either of the husband's surnames

there is also a 1977 marriage in Barnet, again no apparent children ... the wife in that marriage would not have had children c1990

contact with a parent could at least give you information about whether/when the boy(s) went into care and whether they were likely adopted

the wife in the 1983 marriage is in a tree here belonging to a family member

if you checked this info and it seemed a possibility, that person seems to be on the electoral roll to 2013 ... the husband in the 1983 marriage was on the electoral roll alone in Harlow in 2009

your friend must be related to either the mother or father of the boys ...? you were informed of their existence by a family member? no one in that family knows whether/when they went into care?
