I am searching for information on Frederick William Burke born 1886 in the Manchester area. I believe he may have enlisted early in the war.
I am aware he was the youngest of a large family but any information would be most helpful.
Thank you ,
Jane

Hi Gwyn,
He was Frederick William Burke actually! My error I am afraid.
(I'm also researching a Fred Chadwick but not in the military!)
Parents are Harriet Burke and James Burke (deceased). We believe Fred enlisted early in WW1. I've now discovered he married in 1913. Wife's maiden name Mary Ann Bennett.
Thank you for your interest.

To all who have replied to my questions many thanks. Your information is very helpful. Any further info such as where he is buried would be great! So far we are struggling. I'm also trying to find out if Fred has any children.

Thank you all for your help but we have now moved on to Fred Burke's (service no. 4111) older brother John T Burke born 1878. We have him age 13 in Manchester living with parents and siblings and in the1901 census he is in the Army at Chatham (Private/Infantry). This is the correct John Burke as the links lead back to both 81 and 91 census.
We haven't been able to find him after the 01 census, or where and with which part of the army he served.
We would be grateful for any help!
Regards, Jane
