I've had the same, mesages in my inbox with no notification, since Saturday

Estelle did say somewhere that they had suspended some part of the email system when trying to sort out Friday's mess.

Hi Sylvia and Joy,
thanks for pointing out that you're not receiving notification of new emails. I'll look into this as I think you should be.

Hi Joy and Sylvia,
I've just tested this now and you're quite right. No email is sent. I've let Phil know so he'll take a look at it soon.

In the past two weeks I have sent 21 messages and received three replies. Checking today I see that ten messages have not even been opened. I'm beginning to consider not renewing my membership.

Helen,
If 10 messages have not been opened, then 11 have.
Of these 11 only 3 people have replied.
Do you expect genes to be responsible for people not replying to you?

I've had error messages, login failure and slow, slow, stop, stop, slow this morning.

I'm sure I'm not the only slow typist here who is even more dismayed by getting the error message or is logged out when attempting to submit a post which has taken time and effort only to have it lost.

Island

Sometimes if you hit the Back button when you get the Error message, you go back to the page with your message showing in the box.

Then you can try to re-submit, or copy the message and start again.

I've also sometimes found that the message has posted in spite of getting the Error message.

I now try to remember to copy any message that is longer than one line before hitting Submit, so that I can recover it when it disappears.

Just go into Edit, highlight the message, go into Edit, click on Copy.

Then, when you get the Error message, just go to the Reply box, go into Edit, and click on Paste

Thank you Sylvia :-D

I'm au fait with all you suggest but often by the time I get back the moment has passed :-(

This is why I generally stick to one line banter threads :-D

If you google the whole phrase you will find many have asked the same question.

Basically it's an error encountered in the software where the program has an incompatibility in the data it is using, between an integer held in a 32 bit word and a string of 8-bit bytes.

Normally such an error message would be handled in the software and a more meaningful (but less useful) error message displayed (like the one we are all used to).
