Shelley

Whilst waiting for the developers to look into this, could the posts awaiting review be reviewed, please? (taking into account that others have been reviewed recently).

Likewise Glitter baby I will ask my question again of Shelley .
Will you investigate the Compatibility mode on the boards so I can see my Emoticons please.

I have asked this question numerous times over the last year with nothing being done .
Running Internet explorer XP.

I am not changeing my Browser,I should not have too, my computer works just fine on all other sites just not yours ,the problem is at your end.

From 14th October 2013

Well I am beginning to think that no one works at GR or understands simple questions !!!

Sent a message to Support asking if a lookup thread, gave the link, could be closed as the original poster is no longer a member but people are still adding their requests to it.

Part of the message I received this morning:

"I have passed the details of this specific issue to our technical team to look at and investigate"

Why does this simple request have to go to technical team surely it is quite simple for some one at GR just to put "Thread Closed " like shown on the Icons on left hand side of this page

So today I will ask the same question - why can threads not be flagged as closed. There is another one on Find Ancestors Board that has surfaced after 4 years. I do not want to report it and it get deleted.

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to let you know that after three hugely enjoyable years working on Genes Reunited I am now moving to a new position in one of our company’s sister sites, The British Newspaper Archive. Whilst I’ve only been working as the Genes Community Manager for the last 6 months, I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you all and working with the product and technical team to get your concerns and suggestions implemented.

The new Community Manager is Shelley, who’s worked with the company for over a year and is a family history enthusiast currently researching her Burton family history.

All the best,
Natasha

Thanks Sylvia

I could not get it to work for me back then but for some reason it worked yesterday.

I have put it on a notepad I use now so I won't forget :-)

Susan ................

I've mentioned this way of putting emoticons on several times over the last few weeks!

other "codes" to use are ........................

always closing up spaces of course :-)

PLUS, always leave a space between the last letter of a word to a comma or period ........... otherwise the symbols don't work

: - D ................. :-D

: - ( .................. :-(

: - P ................. :-P

< 3 ................. <3

: - O (capital O) .......... :-O (shock)

Thankyou KenSe ....I can see that worked :-)

Susan, You can put a smiley face on your posts. Just type colon hyphen close bracket i.e. : - ) without spaces :-)

You may not see it but most of the rest of us should see a smiley face on your post.

Reggie

Totally disagree with you on that one

A smiley face can change the context of the message.

I think the smiley faces takes the nastiness out of comments that others may post , with a smile after them it makes them not seem so nasty.

I am all for making this site pleasant to be on ...not drive members away.

Of course Just my personal opinion.

For instance I would have put a smiley face on after this comment......if I could that is !!!

Suex

Edit No error messages for me...... yet :-)

Getting a glut of 'error' messages again.............sort it please.

I can manage without emoticons......in fact, too many people use them instead of saying please or thank you............so it would be no loss if they were permanently unavailable

No Suggestion Board roundup since 26th September 2013 does this mean that the Team think that all suggestions have been looked at ?

Can I please have an answer to my question posted above 13 Oct 2013 12:24.

I can now get into my tree but my Emoticons are still not working on the boards.

I did ask this question two weeks ago to the team ,their responce.

Dated 2/10/2013
Dear Susan

Thank you for taking the time to report this problem.

I have passed the details of this specific issue to our technical team to look at and investigate.

Your patience while we work to resolve this is much appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Ann-Marie
Genes Reunited Support Team

I have waited for another message from them as promised but nothing has been forth coming.
Why is it taking so long to get this site up and working correct.
Please before you do any more changes to the site I think it would be a very good idea to ask the paying members of this site what they want for their money.

Looking forward to your reply

Susan
