Grover was a well known name in the Emmbrooke area of Wokingham , Berkshire although there are only a few left now with movement out of the area and marriage .My grandfather was a gamekeeper at Toutley Hall, the big house in the area.During the First World War he was recalled to Buckinghamshire as he could drive and the new invention was The Tank.In Buckinghamshire he taught the new recruits how to drive these monsters before they went to France and Belgium. He met my gran in church in Little Missenden near High Wycombe where her family The Batchelors were equally well known. They moved to Emmbrooke and settled in The Bungalow, which was at the second entrance to the big house and my grand-dad resumed his previous work after the war had ended. They were there during The Second World War when a Royal Artillery Heavy Regiment were situated in the area of Toutley along with Nissen Huts and Anti Aircraft Guns.Among the gunners was my dad,Mr Thomas Randell from Presteigne in Central Wales ,just over the border from England. He met and married my mother, Christine Grover and I was born in The Bungalow as was my sister. My uncle ,Alfred Grover was killed in action in Belgium in 1944 so there were no males to carry on the family name of Grover except for cousins .
