blimey minnie your fast. i dont know if mothers name is wright. no nothing except ada had a half brother called arnold born 1906. & their father was william 1867 & mother of arnold was Helena edith vernon 1888 & they lived in chapel en le frith

thankyou everyone for your help on the entwistles. i have just figured out with your help of course that the reason arnold & ada were step brother & sister would make it clear that arnold was not william entwistles son at all.

Why do you think Arnold is not William's son? More likely to be a different mother i would say. What was William's occupation?

my thinking is that on arnolds birth cert only his mothers name is on it Helena edith Vernon. then she married William Entwistle in 1907 &they had Ada in 1911. Arnold kept the name vernon as his middle name & took the Entwistle from william his step father.

William was a painter & Arnold also took up the trade too. its on his marriage cert & he continued the trade after he came out of the army.

you cant be sure without buying his birth cert, which may not name his father anyway !

have arnolds birth cert & this only mentions his mother. on marriage cert william entwistle is named as father. i was hoping that wiliam was arnolds father as it would be a nice ending for mum in law to know that she knows her real family were as she will never know her true grandad on her fathers side.
