Christian, if you are related to him, *you* should give *us* the information you have -- who he was married to, for instance. His marriage certificate would give his father's name, the first thing you need if you want to trace his ancestors, if that's what you want to do. |

Many thanks for your reply. I have James marriage certificate to Mary McCarthy 1893 and the death certificate you mention. I cannot find a birth certificate for 1853. James was married before but don't know to whom. He had two children with Mary, Ellen and Julia my grandmother. |

Have you found him in 1911? That ought to give his place of birth. |

IF Mary Ann Johnson is James Adams' sister, we can try and track her back. |

On the death certificate it refers to J Adams, son. Do you have any information about this son? |

Sorry forget to add that it is Daniel McCarthy. I know that Mary McCarthy was born in Ireland but have no knowledge of the whereabouts except it was thought it was Eire as opposed to what we call Northern Ireland now but no proof. I do not have any info regarding J Adams the son, he must have been from the first marriage. I will have to check later census returns to see if there is a James Adams with a son J Adams. |

Do not know when Mary died except that she was alive in the 1920/30's as my father who was born in 1918 remembers her as did some of his siblings. She was not living with her husband do not know why. The marriage certificate of 1893 said she was 23 so that could make a dob about 1870. One of my cousins thought she was about 66 when she died but not sure. She was a Catholic and my father's family when they visited her always came home wet because she had splashed Holy Water on them as she did not like their father who was not a Catholic! |
