The village of Aldwincle does exsist in Nothhamptonshire, which I have visited. The name actually means Elder and Corner. We believe that the name originates from Holland and Germany, although it is hard to pin down its exact origins. The name itself is very unique to certain pockets of the country, we all appear to be pocketed mostly in the East Anglia side of the country, mention the name anywhere else and people think that you are mad. |
