Find Ancestors

I am trying to find the parents and family members of my greatgrandfather, James Aitken Hudson, born 1864 in West Hartlepool. We have searched through censuses and records, but have only his wife, Jane Henderson, and 8 children. Can anyone help?

When she appears with 8 children, is she widowed? What years? Or do you mean you know her name and the children's names, but can't find any of them in a census?

I suspect his birth surname was Aitken, and Hudson the name of a stepfather, or his real father's name, if he was registered under his mother's name. Or something of that variety.

In my family tree I have a Olive May Hudson who married Fredrick Edward Speechly about 1901-1905, then Fredrick Edward Speechly remarried to Phyllis Rebecca Hillier. I think it was on her birthday in 1921, Bombay India. Can you shed any light on this family, as it would be a great help and then I can finish my family tree. Olive May Hudson could have come from England.

Lesley, I don't think there's any reason to think these two families are connected - ?

You need to start your own thread. On the left, click on Trying to Find. Then click on Add Topic at the top. Make sure your subject line is informative *and includes the surname Hudson*, even if you see it above the subject line.

And be sure to be clear (can't tell whose 21st birthday that was), and also be clear about what you want to find.

-- there is no Hudson-Speechly marriage in England.

Try searching in that period just for the marriage of an Olive Hudson. There was no Olive Hudson married to anyone resembling Frederick Speechly. So the marriage didn't happen in England. Of course, maybe you know where the marriage happened and just didn't say. See what I mean about complete info?

You can also search for the birth of an Olive Hudson; I tried 1870-1890. There were numerous Olives, including and Olive Mary, but no Olive May specifically.
