Find Ancestors

Hi I am trying to find info on Mary E Barnett who married Alf Drayton in 1889. I have found marriage record for Alf but can't find corresponding record for Mary. According to 1901 census they were married but don't know why I cant find marriage record under her name. Alfs record is Glanford 7a 1505

She was also a servant, unmarried on the 1871

On the 1881 census she's transcribed Mary Elizabeth Seapham but the original looks more like Scupham. Her mother Mary Jane is unmarried, she's a housekeeper to John Walker, a lawyer or sawyer. She has 5 children all marked "illegitimate".

What is puzzling me at the moment is the children.

Can not find Harold in 1901 or any death details.

William on 1901 I can not find him in 1891


Think we need some feedback

The Barnett family are living just outside of Scotter in the 1871 census.

Was mum crafty and named them differently ie; Barnett. She must have been a very determined lady, 5 children, no husband!!

I agree feedback on where the Barnett name came from and like you say where's the rest of the family??

Where is Sarah Scupholme Walker 15 , shown on 1891, but I can not find her in 1881
