Can anybody out there remember a John Batty. He was born in Manningham in 1923 and was the eldest of three boys. His father was called Herbert Batty and his mother was called Clara Eveline Batty. They lived at 28 Mellor Street when John was born. His brothers were called Denis and Raymond. He may have attended Hanson Grammar School probably between the years of 1934-1939. He owned a Butchers shop at 33 commercial Street Shipley called J.M Batty-High class Meat Purveyor. He lived in Mirfield in the 1960's and built and raced bikes and cars as a hobby. He served in the Navy in his younger years. Any information no matter how small even if it is just a passing recollection would be most greatly appreciated. |
