I am stuck - I feel like I've hit a brick wall!

I recently received a marriage certificate for Dorothy Eleanor Victoria Bower (age 25) and Herbert Halsey (age 27), Dec 3rd 1925, Willesden district.
Dorothy's father is listed as William Charles Bower (deceased) and Herbert's father is John Halsey (deceased.)
I can't seem to trace any further back - I'm wondering whether their ages are wrong on the marriage certificate. I cannot find either of their birth records on freebmd. Would some kind soul with better records access be willing to search for any of these names for me?

Could Dorothy's surname have changed at some point eg born under mother's maiden name, or mother remarried?

I found this birth on FBMD:

Guy Dorothy Eleanor V Wandsworth 1d 758 OND 1899.

That combination of forenames seems a bit of a co-incidence.

Was John Halsey's occupation listed on his son Herbert's marriage cert?

This Herbert Halsey in 1911 has a father called John, but this is only a possibility:

On my marriage certificate, the occupation of both (deceased) fathers is unfortunately not given. However The place of residence at time of marriage for Herbert AND Dorothy is 178 Kilburn Park Road - the same street as the census search results you just gave me.

Thanks so much guys, however I'm not sure if Dorothy Eleanor V Guy is the same as my Dorothy (Dorothy Eleanor Victoria Bower). She is listed as a spinster on this marriage certificate.
Unless she was adopted by the Bower family perhaps?? I'm a bit confused now!

If the death that Mary has posted is the correct one, then you Dorothy was born in 1897. She would have been unlikely at the time of her, to be making herself older than she actually was. So I think that Dorothy Guy is unlikely to be your Dorothy.

That aside though, I don't see alikely candidate for Dorothy Guy in 1911 apart possibly for this one.

Hi rootgatherer, I'm afraid I don't have access to the 1911 records so I really don't know. Thanks for your assistance though - seems my Dorothy Bower is something of a mystery figure!!

Dorothy is such a mystery though. She might have been born outside of England & Wales which would explain why she doesn't show up on the FBMD, but no joy with census 1911 either.
