Chedgey seems to have been prevalent in Somerset in 19C - particularly around Taunton - Common view is that they were farmworkers skilled in hedgelaying ( hedgers, chedgers) though there is also the village of Chidzoy (none of us in the graveyard) The Taunton branch had family in London, (Watford, Crouch End, Chiswick, Isleworth) I have dozens of photos from the 1850's onwards, though few are named . Does anyone out ther have named photos that we could compare? [email protected] |
