Ancestry does not have actual images of Scottish Census records, only transcripts (often with amazing mistranscriptions). Actual images are only available from Scotlandspeople. Indexes to Scottish birth, marriages and deaths are only available on Scotlandspeople - Ancestry has none of these. Once you register with Scotlandspeople, you can search free but you need credits to view the search results and see certificates. The free search facility is useful for example, if you are unsure that a marriage took place in Scotland but you have the names of the parties or approximate dates etc. |

Would you reccommend I join Ancestry.com for searching Scottish records? it is expensive and don't want to waste my money if you think not |

Buy the marriage cert. It will tell you their ages at the time, plus the details of each of their fathers |

the best thing is to order the marriage cert which would give fathers names and occupations: |

A copy of the marriage certificate will confirm his fathers name and occupation and you can then go back from there. As you know the exact date of the marriage, do you have the cert? |

They were married 6.6.1892 . I have seen someones tree with the same ancestors and what I need is, if possible, Thomas' parents, grandparents and even the next generation as we have diffferent names for all of these. Any help would be appreciated. |
