Hello. I'm Sandra Elizabeth Chubb, currently living in Cornwall, and am looking for the parents and grandparents of Charles Chubb. Charles was married to Jane Baytup on 31 October 1837 in Bulley Church, Gloucestershire. The marriage entry lists his father as William, Tradesman. Charles is in the family bible as being born in 1802 although on the IGI he is listed as being christened in 1801. We have a letter from his mother, Jane, to his wife's sister, so know that his mother is called Jane. On the IGI there is a William Chubb and his wife Jane having a fourth child, Charles, who was christened at Northbrook Street Wesleyan Church, Newbury, Berkshire, on 29 September 1801. After this date, there is also a William and Jane who have three children christened at Daniel Street, Wesleyan Chapel, Portsea. I wonder if it's the same William and Jane who moved to Hampshire from Berkshire. Going one generation further back, there is a William Chubb and Elizabeth Wolter having a child William christened on 28 January 1754, who could be the William who married Jane (see paragraph above) and had Charles christened 1801. Are you still with me?! Sorry if this is too convoluted, but if anyone has any ideas or real evidence I would be so grateful. |
