Hi,
i was told by my mum today that she heard that my great grandma could have been born in scotland. Could someone please check if there are any Annie Craig's born rather 1890 or 91 as she was 36 when she died in 1926. Thanks

Craig is a popular name in Scotland.

Any idea of where or the names of parents

Becky Report 11 Nov 2008 22:19

Im really not sure the only thing i know about her was the year and the age she was when died.

There are at least 20 plus who might fit the bill - either as Ann, Anne, Anna, Annie etc with similar birth year.

You need a bit more info

Yeah i know thats all i know about her, i know her name was definatly annie craig though. We dont know much about her as she died a few days after giving birth to my grandad.

If you order your grandfathers birth cert this will give more detail to work back from

I know my grandfather was born in berwick, ive checked to see if there were any annie craigs born in berwick 1890/91 but there wasnt any.

PaulaW

PaulaW Report 11 Nov 2008 22:46

I am assuming Craig was her maiden name.?

Do you know the name of her husband?

When did she die you may be better to order the death cert and work back from there.

Rebecca
Are you sue that your Lady Annie Craig died in 1926?
Are you sure she was 36 years of age?
There are only three deaths in 1926 in the whole of Scotland with that name and none are age 36?

Got a death for a Annie Craig in 1929 age 36?
Given as other names: BRADY.
Registered: CALTON/GLASGOW CITY/LANARK.
DATA; 644/03 0374

Could she have died later?
Could she have moved on from BERWICK?

If this is correct her Birth would be later than you thought by two years or so?

You need to start with birth certificate of your Grandfather William showing his mother and the fact that he was illegitimate.
Then move on to his Mother's death perhaps?

Hi,
found a death for Annie Craig 1926 Berwick, Durham, Northumberland. There is also a census return 1891 for an Annie Craig born c1891 Hebburn Durham don't know if it's the same Annie though
Name: Annie Craig
Birth: abt 1890
Death: Mar 1926 - Berwick, Durham, Northumberland

Aileen

Aileen Report 13 Nov 2008 09:46

Name: William Craig
Year of Registration: 1926
Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun
Mother's Maiden Name: Craig
District: Berwick
County: Durham, Northumberland

Janice

Janice Report 13 Nov 2008 17:48

Eileen is right!

Annie Craig Death registered 1ST Quarter 1926 in BERWICK:
Age 36 years:
Ref: 10b 579

William Craig Birth registered 2nd Quarter 1926 in BERWICK:
Ref: 10b 874

So grandfather was correct it seems, with his Mum passing away shortly after his birth, his birth was registered in the next quarter.
So looks like it is Berwick, Northumberland.

Yeah thats the right thats annie and william, I know she definatly has to be born 1890/91 to make her 36 in 1926. I just wish i knew for definate were she was born than it would make things easier in finding her.
