Dear Lynda,
I may have a vague connection between Darby and Newell.
A James Newell b. Poplar 1869 (nephew) was living with my G/Grandfather Isaac Roome in St Albans 1881 census.I can find no other Newell connection.
Isaac's daughter Sarah Maria Roome b. Watford 1870 married a John Darby b. 1846 Dunstable, he already had 3 children and they had a further 6.
James Newell remained in St Albans thro' 1891 by which time the Darbys were also living there. Don't know if this is any help.

Hi - I am trying to find an Edith Darby who was a witness at my husband's grandparents' wedding in Dover on 26 December 1901. Grandparents names were Samuel Wallace Darby and Annie Webb. Sam and Annie had one son (Albert Wallace) born 1902. Annie remarried in about 1911 and was shown at that time as being a widow but we have been unable to find out what happened to Sam.

Is there any connection to your Edith?

Kind regards

Monica
