Hi Peter - suggest you use the Search Trees tab to see if there are any connections on this site - the chances of any of these people seeing your posting is quite remote

good luck!!

There's abt 100 J Swann's getting WW1 medals - is there a service # on the medal - maybe on edge?

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 29 Jul 2010 16:15

Hello Ian, if you do as Ann suggests, you will see that there are a lot of Swanns/Wigan and several Swanns/Hindley. You will need to decide whom to contact. Cx

Hi mgnv, I think Peter is trying to find the family of J. Swann to return the medal to them. From the pm's I have received, it seems he doesn't use the computer every day so there may be delay in response I guess.

Can't say we don't try through can we?? lol

Cx - I didn't pick up on that.

Name: John Swann
Spouse Surname: Bratt
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1922
Registration district: Wigan
Registration county (inferred): Lancashire
Volume Number: 8c
Page Number: 220
Find Spouse: Sarah Bratt

Name: Jack Swann
Mother's Maiden Surname: Bratt
Date of Registration: Jan Feb Mar 1933
Registration district: Rochdale
Registration county: Lancashire
Volume Number: 8e
Page Number: 60

There is a marr for a Jack Swann in Rochdale 1963 (to a woman with 2 surnames), so maybe one can find Jack in Rochdale.

This is probably Jack's wife:
Name: Alice Swann
Birth Date: 25 Mar 1926
Death Registration Month/Year: Apr 2003
Age at death (estimated): 77
Registration district: Rochdale
Inferred County: Lancashire
Register number: A57A
District and Subdistrict: 009/1A
Entry number: 204

But I don't see any death for Jack himself.

You're very welcome but it would really be better if you could edit your message and remove your email address from the public boards. You can click on mgnv's name and send your message that way.

Thinks.....had better pm you in case you don't see this. Cx.
