JOHN GAMESON born c. 1792 Brentford, Surrey His wife, Hannah Gameson (possibly Nicholls born c. 1788 Solihull?) They married in Edgbaston, Warks on 18th Mar 1812. They had the following children: HANNAH MARIA GAMESON born c 1821, Birmingham. Married Henry HANCOX (born 2 Feb 1817, Birmingham) on 21 Feb 1844 at St Peter and St Paul, Aston. ANN GAMESON born c 1824/5, Birmingham. Married William ELKINGTON (born c 1827, Balsall) on 21 Jan 1851 at Baptist Chapel, Heneage Street, Aston FREDERICK JOHN GAMESON born c 1828, Birmingham. Spouse and offspring unknown. John Gameson was a cabinet maker/manufacturer - John and his son, Frederick, where Cabinet and Chair makers and had several businesses (including general provisions) in the Digbeth, Deritend and Stratford Road areas of Birmingham. He was listed in Deritend in 1818 Digbeth, Birmingham in 1844 At Stratford Road, Aston, Aston, Warks in 1851 Census At Henley Street, Digbeth in 1871. John was also an Alderman of Birmingham until just before his death in April 1871. He was also a philanthropist and founder of the Penn Street Industrial School in Birmingham. John must have out-lived Hannah because at the time of his death (per his will) he was married to CORNELIA WILLIAMS. I believe she was born in 1800 in Worcester. She died in March 1877. (I am also interested in any information anyone has on a John Gameson, who was born in 1798 in Tamworth. He became a chainmaker in Birmingham - I think there is a link because his son George Gameson lost 5 children in a fire on Christmas morning 1863. One of four, who escaped the fire was an 18 year old, Elizabeth Hancox. Hannah Maria Gameson and Henry Hancox had a daughter called Elizabeth of the same age!) If you have any links or info about any of the above or the tragic fire, I would love to hear from you. Also, HANNAH MARIA GAMESON Hannah Maria Gameson married Henry Hancox, a maltster, on 21st Feb 1844. Henry was the son of a victualler, Charles Hancox, who was listed at Park Street, Birmingham in 1818 and Round Hill, Aston Manor in 1844. Later addresses included 92 Ryland Road, Edgbaston and addresses in Erdington. Henry and Hannah had least 4 children: FREDERICK GAMESON HANCOX B 3 Jun 1851 WALSALL ROAD, ASTON MANOR Elizabeth HANCOX B 9 Jan 1845, Walsall Road, ASTON MANOR Henry HANCOX B 30 Aug 1847, Walsall Road, ASTON MANOR Charles HANCOX B 23 Mar 1849, Walsall Road, ASTON MANOR Hannah Maria HANCOX B 8 Dec 1856, 92 Ryland Road, Edgbaston, BIRMINGHAM Can anyone spot any links with any of my Gamesons?
