I am trying to trce my husband's grandfather Jonathan Gething who was married to Emma Leake in 1904 and lived in Mexborough, South Yorkshire they had 4 children. On my husband's mothers marriage certicate dated 1932 it states father Jonahan Gething desceased, iut I cannot trace any death at all. Family history says he was American but I cannot find any birth for him , I think he was born in 1877. I can trace one born in Wath on Dearne Yorkshire and one in Oldbury in that year. |

Both Jonathans work in a colliery, but I can't make out the 1901 occupation - works above ground though so not a miner. |

That's OK. It does say that Caleb was born Oldbury, maybe that's what you are thinking of? |

The Ellis Island site has a Jonathon & Alice Gething arriving New York 25 May 1901 from Liverpool aboard the Lucania. Jonathon was 24, Alice 22. Don't understand, I think it says that they're American citizens and that they're returning, passage was paid by his mother. Last residence was Mexboro and they're headin for Nanticoke. |
