There is a village called Glassford, near Glasgow. My mum's maiden name was Glassford and her father Donald came to Leeds from Paisley. I understand that he had several brothers, all of whom had christian na,mes beginning with 'D'! Sadly, the only one I can remember of them is Denny and I have no idea what became of any of his extended family. Update! Turns out my grandad was not from Scotland after all- he was born in Leeds. His father, David, came from Paisley to Leeds. David was married twice, my great grandmother's name was Annie and I'm still trying to find info on his first wife. |
