I'm trying to find out why I can't find the birth of my G.grandfather Richard Henry Gordon. I have his marriage and death, but for the life of me I can't find his birth anywhere. All I know is that he was born around 1871 in Black Dyke Cumberland (Parish Holme Cultram). In the 1901 cencors he was visiting with his wife and children a lady called Hannah Studholme who was also born in Black dyke and was old enough to be his mother??? If this is so and she is his mother how can I find out where the name Gordon came from???????? sharron
