My paternal great-grandfather was William J. Henwood, born in about 1851. He was a carpenter, born in Parr, Cornwall (into a family of coastguards/customs officers). He moved to Derbyshire, where he married Elizabeth Harrison. They moved to Woolwich and their first child, William, was born there in 1874. Then Elizabeth A., was born in Derby in about 1878. They had 7 more children, born in Woolwich, including my grandmother Lily, born in 1897. |
