Looking for information or links to the Heslop family, who originated from Darlington. John Heslop (a shoemaker) and Mary Young married 4th May 1752 at St Chuthberts Church, Darlington. We believe they had five children - Mary (bap 1753 St Cuthberts, Darlington); Ann (bap 1768 St Cuthberts, Darlington); John (bap 1770 St Cuthberts, Darlington); Jane (bap 1771 St Cuthberts, Darlington - bur 1772); Richard Rawling Heslop (bap 1773 St Cuthberts, Darlington). John Heslop (bap 1770) (a weaver) married Mary Kipling and they had seven children - Elizabeth Heslop (bap 1794 St Cuthberts, Darlington); Jane Heslop (bap 1796 St Cuthberts, Darlington - bur 1797); Jane Heslop (bap 1798 St Cuthberts, Darlington); Ralph Smith Heslop (bap 1800 St Cuthberts - died 1838); John Heslop (bap 1805 St Cuthberts - died 1870); Isabella Heslop (bap 1807 St Cuthberts, Darlington) & Esther Heslop (bap 1809 St Cuthberts, Darlington). John Heslop (bap 1805 Darlington) (a coachman and groom) married Margaret Mutter or Muter or Meter (bn 1806 Hamilton, Scotland) on the 21st of May 1825 at the High Church Parish, Edinburgh. Their children were - John (bn 1827 Scotland); Francis (bn 1829 Gainford, Durham - died 1907); Mary Anne (bn 1832 Darlington, Durham); Margaret (bn 1838 Darlington, Duram); David (bn 1840 Darlington, Durham); Richard (bn 1844 Darlington, Durham - died after 1922); Anne (bn 1846 Darlington, Durham) & Elizabeth (bn 1849 Darlington, Durham - died 1918). They lived at 56 Bondgate in Darlington. Francis became a Tailor, married Mary Page from Guisborough and had 4 children - Mary Page, Martha Minnie, Frank, John William & Frances. Richard went on to be an Organ builder in London. He married Sarah and they had a daughter Effie. I have a letter written by Richard in 1922. Elizabeth married William Baker (my GG grandfather). They were confectioners, who lived in Larchfield Street in Darlington. Paul
