Find Ancestors

I have a woman named Sybil Roberts married a Butt - she changed her name to Sylvia Joan Burt in about 1948 she then married a man named named Arthur Hoare they i assume lived in glamorgan possibly. They married in 1950 . Now they have 2 chidren not 100% sure of names but have been given angela and jacquline (not sure how reliable source is)
Arthur died about 1985 and Sylvia was entered into a mental institution in 1995 she died in Podsmead Nursing home, can anyone help find these hoares as i have no idea who they are, all i know is that Sylvia (Sybil) went to her grave without telling anyone of her secret, until on her last days she was crying and asking for rosie and billy her children she never saw since 1948,
What to do???
The medical board wont hnd over any records either however i have ordered certificate of a marriage between sylvia and arthur in hopes this may be the one

really needing help - nans been looking for half sisters for 10 years i hope she finds them b4 its too late k- like her mother!

The best way would probably start with Ancestry complete births index. Check year by year for the surname Hoare and it will have the mums maiden name next to it and see if you can find the childrens names that way.

Just a thought, you say she hadn't seen them since 1948, does that mean the children are from her marriage to Butt? Would make sence since she also changed her name around the same time.

No they are Arthurs according to the nurse that we cant find again who looked after Sylvia in the nursing home the weird thing is the girls names were Angela and Jacqueline ( this was said at the begining of the conversation with my nan when they started talking) then my nan nearly dided as she named my mother angela and her other daughter jacqueline strange stuff!
Cant understand she changed her name to Sylvia Joan Burt after leaving and then married funny thing is the mariage to arthur ouldnt be ligit as she never divorced william butt her 1st husband!

I'm glad that I'm not the only one with going made trying to unravel the family secrets lol

There was also

my nan (rosalie butt) had a sister Christine and im not sure but i think there is a david in there somewhere thing is that Sylvia J butt see my Sylvia that vanished was born a roberts who married a butt oh god tell ya i get bloody headaches with these people i nthe tree no wonder my nan gave up too many secrets and the more i delve into it the more it doesnt make sense! thanks for the info lou i will go check my tree for david

William John 1938 dont know what the sybil j means but.... nan always thought that nan may of have post natal depression or something to just up and leave sybil came back for the kids but nans grandmother chased her away and told her she would call the police my nan was born at 3 Raymond Terance Treforest! hmm i wonder if she lost a baby?? it would explain alot

Ahhh! The plot thickens lol, though not unusual in those times for children to be bought up by nans etc. I have a great aunt that "gave" a baby to her sister??? Didn't come out until after her death.

And yes post natal depression could explain alot.

So let me get this right your nan is Rosalie Butt, siblings are Christine, William John, David henry Butt. So Sylvia J Butt, is she the Sybil that died in thenursing homeSybil??? And who turned her away when she came back???

Hahahaha I hate the name changing thing i tend to get all muddled Sybil Butt (neeRoberts) is the mother (that ran away) my nan is Rosalie yep! and the person who turned her away was Rosana Butt (never liked my nan ever since this day) nan remembers Rosana yelling at her mother to leave or she will call the police poor woman all she wanted was to see her kids, nan wanted to go with her too because she hated her grandmother if she did i wouldnt have this problem!
and... sybil changed to sylvia joan burt and died sylvia joan hoare lol
