Trying to find information about the Horne family who lived in the Openshaw area of Manchester.John Horne (shoe-maker from Bedford )b.1834 married Mary Saunders (stay-maker from Ireland) b.1843 on 25th Dec. 1867. Known children are:- Arthur b.1874 (my grandfather), Charles b.1876 and Lewis b.1877. Mary gave birth to Lewis in Crumpsall Workhouse where she resided at the time but by 1881 the family lived in Victoria Street, Gorton. Arthur Horne (widower)married Eliza Heywood in 1904 and emigrated to Sidney,N.S.W. returning back home to live in Hillgate area of Stockport (two children-Sidney and Phyllis). |
