My great grandfather William Hurlbutt was said to have run away from his home in Connecticut at the age of 15, and settled in North Shields, England about 1850. He was accompanied by an artist friend called Hinman: this name has been used as a middle name in subsequent generations. William was said to be a descendant of Thomas Hurlbutt, b 1610, who went to Taybrook, Connecticut in 1635, with wife, a female servant and 10 men, to build a fort to protect the English from native Americans. The line in between Thomas and William is what I am looking for. Any relevant info? Where was he born? His parents names? |
