Seeking my elusive Isaacs ancestors, Mark Isaacs (picture frame/looking glass frame maker) born around 1840 in London, and his father Michael Isaacs. Michael's occupation was 'pencil maker' and he must have been born pre-1820. He was still alive in 1853. Mark's son, James Mark, married and raised 9 children in Bristol. I have been considering a Jewish connection, but there now seems to be a more likely connection with the large Isaacs clan from Bitton, Gloucestershire, and with the Car(e)y family from there. Any help gratefully received! Christine |
