Hi, can anyone please help with an 1871 and 1881 census look up please? They are Joseph and Margaret Lawton of Eccles. In previous census's they are living in Regent Street Eccles so maybe they are still there? In 1871 Joseph would be approx 68 and so on. They may have children living with them...names such as Anne, Elizabeth, James and Samuel may appear. Thanks anyway for reading this....much appreciated John

Hi John,

There are a few entries for a Joseph Lawton aged 68 residing as a Boarder, but we need a bit more information to check if it is the right one.

Can you please advise where he and Margaret were born and what Margaret's date of birth was?

Thanks

Rachelle

Hi Rachelle, Joseph was born circa 1803 in Cheshire (possibly Gawsworth), Margaret was born in 1808 in Monton, Eccles. In 1861 he was a beer seller in regent Street Eccles. He had many children but it is a common name (Joseph) so it is hard to find. He may even have died before then...can't trace around this time. thanks for the help

thanks Margaret for your help...much appreciated...I have that one it's the census in 1871 thats proving difficult. There is a Joseph in 1881 that has 42 acres of farmland with similar children's names but I can't be too sure of that, besides he would be 78?! That Joseph is in Stockport....mu Joseph originated from cheshire so I am not completely ruling it out.

thanks
