Seeing info on Thomas Lynch, b. c1832, Dundee/Forfar area, d. 1889, Glasgow. Children b. Glasgow, Thomas (b. 1868) and Margaret (1872). Their mother was Margaret Cassidy - though there is some confusion here and on her children's marriage records she is listed as Margaret Lowe! She may have also (from 1871 census information) been originally from Dundee area. She died in 1879. The family is in the 1871 and 1881 censuses, in Bridgeton (Glasgow), and the censuses give Dundee as the place of Thomas's birth. I have not been able to find Thomas Lynch in the 1861 census, and don't know whether he would then have been in Dundee or Glasgow, or of course somewhere else. I've a lot more information on this family now, though some mysteries remain.
Thomas Lynch, senior, was born in Dundee and is probably the son of Michael Lynch and Margaret Haghey (or maybe Haggart) baptised in 1831. He appears to have married Euphemia Low in Kirriemuir in 1850, and there was a child James, but they separated and Thomas ended up in Glasgow with Margaret Cassidy. I don't know where he was between 1851 and 1868. HIs son James went to America as a farmer. Euphemia Lowe stayed in Kirriemuir and had several other children there. Thomas Lynch died in Glasgow in 1889.

Apologies for not replying, Ruth. I didn't receive a 'watch' message for your post... The younger Thomas married Margaret Pendlebury in Glasgow.

Hi Ann,
I was giving a very late response to Ruth, who'd made a query which I hadn't seen, and letting anybody interested know that I had found a lot more, in case anybody else has an interest in these people.

However, there is something I'd like to know, from somebody with access to emigration records. There is a Mary (Jane Paterson) Lynch in the Dundee census in 1861, 71, and 81, mother Ann Lynch, who then disappears, and as I've been unable to find a marriage or death, she may have emigrated... Anyone have access?
