This may be nothing but a family myth, but here goes... Looking for the brothers of John Lyons (bn 1825 Glasgow, Scotland) who went out to America before the Civil War (1860-1865). They were engineers and it is likely they stayed in America. The story goes that John Lyons was on a ship in the Mississippi when they were attacked by Germans. John jumped ship and because he would be considered a deserter from the army, he got the first ship back to Britain. |
