Thank you all. The marriage cert. I have doesn't relate to the information I have. As I have stated the 1876 date doesn't relate to the 1911 census information, which is the information from Netty.

Hi Sue

You cannot completely rely on census information.

Having Parnell as a middle name is somewhat of a coincidence

Hi Sister sue

In those days people were iliterate and reading & writing was not their strong point..

In the 1911 census the numerator at the time could had put his birth reg down wrong. You can ask anyone on this site that come to time when you are trying to find family members on census and BDM there names are spelt wrong plus ages are put down wrong.

hope this helps.

Hi Sister sue

Sister Sue

Sister Sue Report 4 Nov 2009 03:20

Both father's are farmers

Ozibird

Ozibird Report 4 Nov 2009 04:05

I would've thought someone born in the 1870s would be literate, even farm labourers. Education was compulsory after the Education Act of 1870.
