Find Ancestors

I have Sophia born c 1884. She married Thomas Evans and when he died, she married Charles Smith in 1909.
I can not find her in 1891 or 1901 without more info.
In 1911, I believe she is incorrectly transcribed as Selby Smith living in South Shields with husband, Charles, Susan aged 2 and Joseph 6 months.
Could somebody kindly check the original to see if it is her, and let me know the place of birth.

There is a death in Mar Qtr 1908 South Shields for Thomas Evans aged 28 which could be him; however, Evans, is quite a common name

The strangest thing is this ---
I am doing tree for my wife's cousin.

He has grandfather Daniel McHugh.
If the above ones are right, his wife has great grandfather Daniel McCue.
(They are not the same person).

Jim, do you have a copy of that 1909 certificate to make sure that it's definitely "your" Sophia?

What is the name and birth year of the daughter from the first marriage?

EDIT - the Council website also has the marriage registered as Sophia McCue.

The daughter is Susan. She had three children --- the first shows mmn as Evans and the other 2 as Smith. This makes sense if she married both Evans and Smith.

Jim, if we can find any of the children in 1911 then Sophia may be with them.

What year was Susan born?

If the others were born before 1911 what is their names and birth years?

Re: the birth certificates. The maiden name is the name you were born with. So if she was Sophia McCue then that is the mother's maiden name that should be on the children's birth certificates. They may well also show her previous name of Evans.

Susan was born 4 Jun 1908 and registered in qtr 3 in South Shields.
That would make her 2 at the 1911 census.
