Find Ancestors

I seem to have hit a bit of a dead end with this lady and i'm hoping that someone can help.

Ann Mckersie married Richard Stephenson in Lewisham in 1867.
The marriage certificate states that she is of full age and that her father is Robert Mckersie (Deceased) a coastguards man.

The witnesses are John Jones and Emma Constable.

I have Ann (now a Stephenson) on the 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901 census...her place of birth varies from Tynemouth, Nothumberland to Tynemouth, Devon and Whitley, Glasgow, Scotland. Her year of birth also fluctuates between 1847 and 1850.

I am unable to find any trace of Ann Mckersie prior to her marriage.

On the 1861 census i have found:

My thoughts are that this Robert is the brother of Ann Mckersie.

I've just had a look at that Catherine Ann etc... marriage and I'm amazed that she managed to fit her whole name on there!

Interesting that she gives her fathers occupation as a Lieutenant in Navy ...was this a career progression or was he a Navy Coastguard?

Also this is two years before Ann's marriage and it doesnt say he is deceased. I wonder if this gives us a time period for his death?
Of course it could be that Ann lied about her father being deceased because she may not have quite been of full age at the time of her marriage (which is what i think that deleted post at the begining of this thread was getting at, before the writer deleted it!)

Robert McKersey is also a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy Coastguard at Alexandrina's marriage. Sorry I didn't mention that in my original posting.

I also wondered about Robert's death. Couldn't see anything on FreeBMD, but wasn't sure where he was living.

Ignore the 1871 census for Isabella Mitchell as it is wrong
