Anthony was born in Ireland, probably County Mayo c1836. I know that he had a son called Edward born c1882. It will be very much appreciated if anybody could do an irish look up for me. |

Thanks for the information Kay. It looks like this is a match. I now need to find out more information on Anthony's parents and Edward's siblings. |

They were married in Middlesbrough Register Office and yes the MC show's Edward's father as Anthony McTigue (deceased) and that he was a farmer. Edward was a private in the Highland Light Infantry on the MC which also states that he lived at 12 Walker St, Middlesbrough. I found the passenger list on Ancestry - thanks. |

Christine...Thank you for that ..interesting he was in the Highland Light Infantry...Not sure if they recruited around the NE...I am inclined to think there is a Scottish Connection along the line.... |

It looks like there could have been an Irish division of the Highland Light Infantry as I think that he was already in it before he came to the UK. |

Can't seem to find anymore information. Does anybody know how I go about obtaining my grandfather's (Edward McTigue) birth certificate as he was born in County Mayo, Ireland. Hopefully that will show me his mother's name. I already know his father's name. |
