I am trying to trace the birth of my G.G.G. Grandfather, John Minns/Mins. He was married in 1799 to Lois Dyer and he died in 1841 aged 84. This would make him, if age at death was correct, born around about 1756/1757. This makes him in his forties though when he married Lois and she was only 19 as I have her birth year and they had to have a license when they married so she was definitely underage to marry without father's consent. I have "met" a distant relative through the internet and she seems to think that his father's name could have been Martin or Thomas. I have found a Martin on the IGI site married to a Jane Slapp who had a son called John who could be my John, but how do you find out for sure. Any suggestions? |
