ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

Hi
I am trying to find out more information about Annie Pilo who married a Patrick (paddy) Harper in Dublin.

I understand that she came from Spain to Ireland early 1900's

she had 4 children, John(jack), Annie, Katie and Christine(chris)

Chris married a James Mills and had I believe 4 children and moved to the Liverpool area

Katie Married a Paddy keenan, and Annie I believe married a man with the surname Brennan.

Any help would be great

Sadly I have very little to go on, as both Patrick and Annie had died died, when my mother was born or shortly after. this would have been in the 1930's.

Jack was I understand the last of the children, he was born in C 1889, so the marrage would have taken place in mid 1860's ?

I understand that they lived in the Gardiner Street area off Dublin, which was in the city.

I have been told that they had 5 children not 4. Katie, Annie, Partick, christine and Jack. there may be a gap between the children as I understand that Jack had a nephew a few months older than him.

it was Katie that moved to england and was in the north (manchester)

sorry that thsi is all so vague as my mum knows very little about them and it was her maternal side that she has more contact with when growing up.

Thanks for all your help

The white pages for Ireland -- there's a John Harper listed in Dublin. Since he was the youngest and quite possibly still living, that might be worth a try.

For the rest, the nicknames are a bit of a problem. Was Katie maybe Kathleen, was Annie an Ann, Paddy Keenan was Patrick ... ?

If you search trees here at GR for the surname Keenan born in Dublin say 1930 +/- 5 years, there are people with some of the names in their trees -- it wouldn't hurt to send them messages explaining who you're looking for and ask whether they are the same people.

Someone has an Annie Pilo born 1889, no place of birth, in their tree. Do you know that person already?

Searching trees is the first thing to do at this site!

I'm sorry but this isn't making sense:

"Sadly I have very little to go on, as both Patrick and Annie had died died, when my mother was born or shortly after. this would have been in the 1930's.
Jack was I understand the last of the children, he was born in C 1889, so the marrage would have taken place in mid 1860's ?"

You're talking about the marriage of the parents of Patrick Harper who married Annie Pilo ... ?

Jack was the last of their children, and had a nephew older than himself, so wasn't he born in the late 1940s or so?

paddy was patrick and yes the others may have been Kathleen or Ann.

Jack died in 1978 around march time. aged about 85

Sorry, My Grandfather is Jack and was born in C 1889 and Died in 1978, his father Was Patrick harper and is mother was Annie Pilo so I have the dates mixed up, the marrage would have been around 1860.

Both Annie Pilo and Patrick Harper died before 1933, Patrick May have died around feb/march 1932

Oh duh, the person with Annie in their tree is you!

... To try to straighten it out ...

Jack Harper was born c1889, died 1978.

His father was Patrick Harper, his mother Annie Pilo -- so they would have married in the 1860s? If he was born 20-25 years after the marriage, yes.

But you have Annie Pilo in your tree as born c1889. And you originally said she went to Ireland in the early 1900s.

So these children -- Katie, Annie, Christine, Patrick, Jack -- were the children of Patrick and Annie and were all born before 1890, not in the 1930s?

Can you tell us which one is your direct ancestor and when that person was born? I guess it was Jack born c1889?

They were all born in Dublin City, so unless Mary was a second wife ...

If you search here for surname PELOW in Dublin, any event, say 1860-1885, you'll see that various versions of it -- Pelo, Pielow -- were fairly common.

Nice when it falls into place. :)

I couldn't find births or baptisms for any of the other children, or a marriage for Patrick and Mary.

But I just checked the 1911, and here's a bonus:

Harper Patrick 54 Male Head of Family - Fire Clay Porter
Harper Mary 56 Female Wife
Harper Patrick 19 Male Son - Fire Clay Porter
Harper John 17 Male Son - Timber Porter
Harper Christina 21 Female Daughter - Book Folder
> Peelo Margret 68 Female Boarder (Cannot read)

(all born Dublin City)

Too young to be Mary's mother it would seem, so likely a sister or aunt. One more bit of info, anyhow!

The age would have to be out a bit in either 1901 or 1911, but this could be Margaret in 1901:

Peelo Margaret 52 Female Servant Roman Catholic Dublin City Domestic Servant Cannot read
