My husbands great grandfather was William Rainford who came from Aspull, New Springs in Lancaster. He was born in 1847, married Rachel Bullough in 1868, they started a family, but we think Rachel died and he re-married an Elizabeth Ellen, (surname we donot know). They had some children, then approx late 1890's they moved to Carmarthen in South Wales, where their last son William was born. William senior had a brother Noah Rainford who also moved to Carmarthen about the same time (they are both on the 1901 census as living in South Wales). Three sons of William stayed in Carmarthen, but the rest of both familys moved on. My husband remembers an aunty Sophia coming to visit when he was a child, she was a daughter of Williams and lived in Manchester. |
