I really need help from the UK and British Navy for this search. I'm trying to find the origins of George Rose born abt 1820 and died Aug. 22, 1885 in Grand Bank Newfoundland. He jumped ship in Grand Bank Newfoundland about 1845-52 and seeing as The British Navy was patrolling the coastline of Newfoundland it is likely he was a deserter of The British Navy. He married Anne Hickman and they had 13 children all born in Grand Bank. They were: Elizabeth born Mar. 10, 1853 Sarah H. born Apr. 12, 1854 Susanna born Apr. 22, 1856 Emma H. born Jun. 23, 1858 Wilson born abt 1860 Abner born Sep. 10, 1862 Robert born Mar. 15, 1864 Archibald born Dec. 23, 1865 Samuel G. born Mar. 19, 1867 Dinah M. born Dec. 2, 1869 Kezia H. born Mar. 20, 1872 Amanda M. born Feb. 2, 1874 Charles A. born Dec. 31, 1875 What a challenge. I hope there is someone out there who might know who was a deserter or disappeared from the UK shores during the 1840s to 1852. Thanks Bob |
